Child Resistant / Tamper Resistant Plug Ins

If you’re a toddler, one of the most interesting things in your world are electrical outlets. They are one of the few things that are right there eye-level with you. If you don’t know what they do, sticking a paper clip, a key, a screwdriver, a metal toy, or whatever you can get your tiny little hands on seems like a pretty inviting thing to do. Us taller folks know that is a really scary thought!

Aside from the fact that tamper resistant outlets are code required for most areas, they’re just a good idea in general. Here’s the principal; tamper resistant receptacles won’t open up and allow anything to be plugged into them unless something is being shoved into both sides at the same time. Like a plug in. That means toddlers have to have two metal objects and great timing to get something in that electrical outlet that could shock them. Please keep in mind …. these are tamper RESISTANT receptacles not tamper PROOF. If you’ve ever run your “water resistant” watch through the washing machine then you know the difference between “resistant” and “proof”!

We’re more than happy to take the time and show you just how to make your home safer for children by installing tamper resistant receptacle outlets. They really aren’t any more difficult than a standard electrical outlet, they’re just safer! As always, we’re here to help. Just stop in and we’ll get you set up!
