Spring Maintenance – Time to Hit That “To-Do” List!
It has been said that winter passes slowly … unless you have a balloon payment due in April. One other thing makes time fly; a long to-do list. One minute you’re thinking you’ve got all spring and summer and the next thing you know, the weather is turning cold again. Let’s get started on some of those simple, but important, maintenance projects now.
Something that can cause a real pain when ignored is a washer hose. Yep, those hoses that connect to your washing machine. You probably have never thought of them. They can get old and brittle so its a good idea to change them now while they’re still working. Once they start to leak, you’ll wish you had thought ahead.
While we’re in the laundry area, how about that dryer? It can collect lint as it is designed to but it can also create lint where you don’t want it. For fire safety reasons, you might want to vacuum behind the dryer. Check the vent too. It might be time for a replacement.
How about all those light bulbs in the “I never think about that one” areas?
Front porch, back porch, garage, shed, flood lights, security lights, basement, pump house, dog house, (ok, maybe that one was a stretch) but you know the ones. If you haven’t been outside much in the winter, you haven’t noticed if they are out. Now, with spring rolling in, you’ll really need those lights. Let’s make sure we’ve got good bulbs in all of them.
That thing about “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”? That’s true. Stop by and we’ll help you do some preventing!
A Word On Old Water Heaters
Here’s a clip from KEX radio in Portland with Roger Heasley from the Grover Vancouver/Hazel Dell Store talking with callers about water heaters.
Sink, Faucet, Shower Replacement
Funny how the smallest improvement can change your attitude. Wash and vacuum your car and suddenly you’ve got a lot more pride driving it. A lot of things in your house are like that.
If you’ve been trying to ignore a rusting, leaky, or otherwise grungy faucet, it’s time to replace or repair. You’ll be surprised how easy it really is. The key is to know what to do BEFORE you start. That’s where we come into the picture. Just come in to a Grover Electric and Plumbing Supply and we’ll not only help you find exactly the right product, but we’ll walk you through exactly how to do your own repair or installation.
Pesky latch or rusty hinge on your shower door? We’ve got repair or replacement parts for all kinds of shower designs and we’ll help you get it installed yourself and save a lot of money.
Oh, and here’s a tip; Many of us are now carrying telephones in our pockets with a camera on them. If you’re questioning how to explain what you’re trying to accomplish, just take a picture and bring it in to the store. Once we get the picture of what’s needed we’ll make sure you “get the picture” on how to do it yourself!
“Ultra” Is New At Grover
As a plumbing supply store, you might think we would carry every brand and style of every plumbing product there is. We could, but, quite deliberately … we don’t.
We’ve been at this a long time and we’ve learned that some things are just better quality than others. We’re not manufacturers of the products we sell but we still feel a responsibility to our customers who plunk down their hard-earned money to provide them with things that are trouble-free. So, over the years, we’ve learned what to carry and what NOT to carry. That’s why it’s a pretty big deal when we take on a new line. We check them out to make sure we’re providing plumbing supplies, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, etc., that are top notch.
Today, we’re proud to announce a new line from “Ultra”. Beautiful quality products we’re proud to have in our store, and you’ll be proud to have in your home. In fact, Ultra has faucet supplies for kitchen, bathroom, utility, and even RV’s!
It’s, a pretty inconvenient time of year for outdoor projects so why not redo that kitchen, or bathroom now? If you’re ready to get started, we’re ready to help!
Going “down the drain” is a good thing!
Convenience inventions are only convenient when they work.
If you have a garbage disposal, you know how convenient they can be. Whisking food items down the drain in seconds when you’re cleaning up after all the holiday (or any other) meal.
But, if your disposal isn’t working as well as it once did, it can cause drains to work slowly and eventually plug up. Often times with years of wear, disposals will begin to be so loud you can’t even hear uncle Harry yelling at the football game on TV.
Replacing a disposal is not a big deal. We’ve helped tons of do-it-yourselfers save money and improve the performance (and volume) of their disposals. If you don’t have one, we can even walk you through the process of installing a disposal.
The new Evergrind disposal by Insinkerator is a top quality machine that can make your life a lot easier. Additionally it would make it much easier to hear what your family members are yelling at the TV. Hopefully you’ll see that as a plus.
