Cooling Off
How about some tips on dealing with hot air?
No, I don’t mean the stories your neighbor tells. I mean actual HOT AIR. The kind that makes the mercury rise and the clothes stick to your skin.
If your home already has air conditioning, it has to be functioning properly to provide maximum benefit. Filters play a big role in getting that benefit. They are easy to overlook but, fortunately, they’re easy to change too. Here at Grover’s, we carry all sizes shapes and varieties of filters for furnaces, cooling systems, or just about anything that blows air. (Not including the afore-mentioned neighbor) Keep that furnace/air conditioning unit running right with clean filters.
Getting the air moving makes a huge difference in the comfort of a room and ceiling fans can make that happen while actually enhancing the look of your home. For the most part, they’re a great do-it-yourself project. And, if you need a little advice, we’ll be glad to provide it. You’ll want to make sure the electrical box you’re connecting to will support a ceiling fan. There are some considerations like whether you’ll want independent controls or not but its not rocket science. Besides, all you need to do is ask and we’ll explain the process.
Here’s an idea you may not have considered … an outdoor ceiling fan! If you have the right venue, it’s a great way to keep some air moving so you and your guests stay cool. Ask us what “the right venue” is and we’ll be glad to help you get started.
How about being outside on those super-duper-hot days? Nothing is quite as refreshing as a misting system. Something about that light cool mist that just does the trick. Installing a misting system is a piece of cake. Well be glad to show you how.
Staying cool with help from Grover is “no sweat”!
Do It Yourself In-Ground Sprinkler Systems
If your getting tired of dragging hoses around all summer only to find that your existing sprinklers don’t quite cover the area you want without getting the car, the deck, and the neighbors wet … its time to look at some sprinkling alternatives.
The best choice? An in-ground sprinkler system. Some folks call them an automatic lawn sprinkler or in ground lawn watering system. Whatever you call them you can save some serious money installing it yourself but you’ll need to know a few things. Fear not, at Grovers were here to help.
First; some planning. Graph paper is the best thing for making a sketch of the area to water. You can stop by and we’ll be glad to provide some graph paper as well as tips on how to make a sketch to scale. Don’t worry about your drawing skills, its shapes and dimensions we’re concerned about here. All you’ll need to get started is the graph paper, a tape measure, and a pencil. Once you’ve got your sketch, you’re ready to come in and get started.
We design the system including a list of materials and the cost estimate. When you buy your system from Grover Electric and Plumbing Supply, the design is free! And we provide as much advise as you want or need.
Its always a money saver to do it yourself, and we’re here to help.
By the way … be sure get some of those little paper umbrellas to put in your cold beverage while you relax and enjoy your nice green lawn and garden!
Welcome!
Welcome to the first ever Grover Electric and Plumbing blog entry. So what’s the point of us blogging? Two things:
- Letting you know what’s going on here at our stores that could be of value to you.
- Helping you with tips, pointers, and ideas, about electric and plumbing. Plus: seasonal reminders, some do-it-yourself suggestions, and more.
Our blog isn’t so much a sales tool for us as it is about helping you with electric and plumbing issues. Sort of an extension (but NOT a replacement) of the service we provide in our stores.
What should you be doing in terms of electric and plumbing to be ready for the unique challenges each season brings? We’ll help out with that and many other things as well.
Best way to avoid missing anything would be to leave us your email address and we’ll keep you informed. Rest assured that your privacy will be protected. We won’t share your information with anyone. You can read our short and sweet privacy policy if you’d like. Our new website will never be as helpful as the Grover service personnel you meet face to face in our stores, but we’re pretty excited about having this new way of extending our commitment to service out on the internet.
Got an idea to make our site better? A blog, a video, something you’d like to see, hear, or read? Let us know!
