Frequently Asked Questions

How heavy of a light fixture can I install?

It depends on the weight capacity, construction, and bracing of the ceiling box installed. The weight limit on a typical ceiling electrical box is stamped on the inside of the box and can range from 6lb to 50lb. Always check the weight capacity before installing a heavy fixture.

What is the difference between lumens and watts?

Lumens measure the brightness of a light bulb, while watts is a measurement of energy consumption. Many LED light bulbs will show “watt equivalency” to give an idea of the brightness compared to a traditional incandescent bulb. For example, a “60 watt equivalent” will typically have a brightness of about 800 lumens.

Can I install LED lamps in my old fluorescent fixture?

Yes, however you will need to determine whether you need ballast-compatible (type A) LED lamps or ballast-bypass (type B) LED lamps. We can help you choose the type that is compatible with your fixture and best fits your needs.

Can I install my own low voltage landscape lighting?

Yes! We can help you map your layout, determine wattage and wire length as well as select the best fixtures to elevate your landscape design.

What kind of dimmer should I use for my LED fixture?

Dimmers designed to work with integrated LED fixtures should be used for optimum life and performance, and to prevent issues like buzzing and flickering. It is best to use a dimmer listed by the fixture manufacturer as compatible with the light. We can help you find the correct device to work with your LED fixture.
