Hot Water Dispensers – Making Life Easy!
Depending on your age, you may find this hard to believe; BUT, there was a time when the only way you could change the channel on your TV was to get up, walk to the set, spin a knob to the next channel to see what was there. If it wasn’t what you liked you had to stand there clicking the channel dial until you found something you DID like. Here’s the part younger folks might find hard to believe; it was just accepted as being the way it is. Some devices are like that. The old way seems ok until you try the new one for a while and then you can’t imagine going back.
Come in to a Grover Electric and Plumbing Supply and get yourself a hot water dispenser. You’ll soon feel like the only person on the block with a TV remote. It’s one of those “What did we do before we had this thing?” kind of devices. Want some tea? Hot water for a recipe? Some instant oatmeal or hot chocolate? Push a button and there it is!
As to installing your hot water dispenser, it’s not difficult and we can walk you through the process. It’s what we do. We help do-it-yourselfers be do-it-yourselfers. Sometimes we help people who aren’t do-it-yourselfers find out they can do a lot of things themselves anyway.
Don’t think you need a hot water dispenser? Spend a week changing channels manually … it might change your mind!
Your Fall Home Checklist … Get Ready For Winter Weather
Sorry to break in here where while you’re admiring all those pretty fall colors but fall does bring on some other things that require our attention. It’s the season where we do some things that we appreciate not having to do later.
First up: Disconnect your hoses from those outdoor faucets before they freeze and break things. It might be a good time to look into some other options for protecting outdoor water supplies as well. We have a few ideas about that.
Second thing: Ceiling fans. They’ve been cooling for the summer (if they’re spinning the right direction) so now its time to reverse them and get them distributing the heat. HERE’S A TIP; dust them before you reverse them or you could end up throwing out a cloud of whatever they’ve been collecting all summer.
Third thing: You’ll be firing up the furnace now. (If you haven’t already!) So this is the time to make sure you’ve got a nice clean furnace filter. We have a big selection of filters to make sure your furnace doesn’t work any harder than it has to this winter.
Last but not least: There’s a lot more darkness now so make sure those outdoor lights are working correctly. If you have a timer on those lights, you’ll want to make sure it’s set to be shining when needed.
Did we just make our to-do list a little longer? It’s what we’re here for.
Freezing Pipes. When To Deal With Them.
Wanna know the worst time to wrap your pipes to protect them from freezing? When its freezing. We know, its one of those things that you just don’t think about unless something goes wrong. So with that in mind, here’s our reminder that the best weather to do freeze protection in is fall.
Not to hot, not to cold. And we’ve got a lot of different options for you to keep your pipes from freezing. Not all pipe insulation is created equal. Especially in the “ease of installation” category. Come on in and tell us what your pipe situation is and we can help you get the best freeze protection with the greatest ease of installation for your application.
You can sit by the fire this winter knowing your water is fine or … you could be under the house in sub zero weather with busted pipes if you go for that kind of “adventure”.
A Cool Idea For Summer Heat That You Might Have “Mist”!
When you think about solutions to the summer heat, most of us think about air conditioners and fans. But one of the most refreshing ways to beat the heat in summer is being outside near a “misting system”. If you’ve never experienced it, you’re really missing something. A cool gentle mist of water spraying about when you’re hot and sticky just feels fantastic!
If you’ve got a patio, deck or other area where you’d like to lounge in cool comfort during the hottest of days, we’ve got several options for you:
Misting systems can be as simple or as complex as you want or need. We can show you how to set one up in minutes that’s made of flexible tubing with small mist nozzles spaced at equal intervals. These typically hang from small hooks. Just hang it up, and attach it like a standard garden hose and you’ll be basking in the cool mist in moments.
If you’d like to do something a little more “industrial strength” we can help you install a misting system from PVC pipe which can be fed via garden hose or you could even permanently plumb it in. This is a great way to keep livestock cool and safe.
One note of caution: If you have a dog, be prepared to share the “misting area” they love em!
